During my time as a Duck, I have had many wonderful experciences that have helped shape who I am. With a combination of environmental science classes, child development, and special education courses, I believe that I have given myself a solid foundation to teach about our oceans.

I completed my field studies for my special education minor working with students between the ages of 18 and 21. The goal of the program I worked with is to give students who have physical or mental disabilities the opportunity to gain valuable job skills and increase their self-confidence. I helped these students ride the bus around town to thier various job sites where they collected trash and recycling, washed dishes, and cleaned offices.

I have been fortunate to be involved with two of the University of Oregon's Environmental Leadership Program projects. The first project I was involved in is called Restoring Connections and its goal is to provide young students with the opportunity to go outside and engage with nature. Thoughout this program, I learned how to create environmental education curriculum and had the chance to implement it in the field with kindergarteners and first grade students.

The other project that I will be a part of is called Explaining Estuaries and I will be partnering with the Charleston Marine Life Center to create a new display for their museum along the Southern Oregon Coast. This project will begin in the fall of 2016.
